The Poseidonion Grand Hotel has certainly been the island’s most iconic landmark for over a century. Known locally as the “Jewel of Spetses”, the hotel dates back to 1914. With an architectural style influenced by hotels on the French Riviera such as Le Negresco and Le Carlton, the Poseidonion is one of the first luxury hotels in Greece.
With stunning views of the Saronic Gulf, fragrant lavender gardens, towering palms, impeccable customer service and unbridled attention to detail, the Poseidonion Grand Hotel offers understated yet authentic luxury.
The Poseidonion Grand Hotel sits at the heart of Spetses‘ social life and plays a vital role in almost all major cultural and sporting events taking place on the island. Located about 180 km from Athens, the island of Spetses is known as Isola di Spezie (the island of perfumes). Also famous for its rich naval history and its key role in the War of Independence (read”Laskarina Bouboulina at the Benaki Museum“article), Spetses is simply unique and special.
The island of Spetses is accessible by ferry. From Piraeus with ALPHA LINES or DIRECT FERRIES (approximately 3 hours – €45/person) or by taxi from the capital or Eleftherios-Venizelos airport (+/- 3.5 hours journey, between €350 and €450) .
