Born under the Mediterranean sun, ARTEMIS PSARRI is an ode to nature, the sea, and the female body. With a keen sense of harmony and contrasts, the designer creates a summer wardrobe that reveals without altering, that embraces without restricting. In this interview, she unveils the soul of her creations : grounded, fluid, and fiercely free.
“Through my creations, I hope to inspire a return to self-love, to the freedom of being beautiful just as we are.” – Artemis Psarri

How was the brand ARTEMIS PSARRI born?
I can’t say there was a precise moment when Artemis Psarri was born. It happened gradually, in a very natural way. I’ve always loved summer, and swimwear, along with resort wear, felt like a natural extension of that passion. One idea led to a sketch, then another, and little by little, the first collection took shape. It wasn’t a calculated decision, but something that emerged organically. I can’t imagine creating anything that isn’t connected to the sea. That’s where I feel most inspired.
Nature plays a major role in your creations. Would you say you express yourself through your designs?
I believe we are part of nature. I’m deeply drawn to its harmony and balance. In nature, everything exists in rhythm, and contrasts come together to form a coherent whole. Opposites don’t clash — they complement each other, creating a deeper unity. I see beauty in contrast — softness and strength, stillness and movement.
What message do you hope to share?
Nature embraces opposites, and I think we should do the same. I want people to feel free, strong, and comfortable in what they wear — to feel authentic. The sea, the rocks, the light — all of that is reflected in my work. My creations embody that: clean, fluid, grounded. Through my work, I hope to inspire people to embrace their own contrasts and contradictions. There is beauty in duality — strength and softness, light and shadow. When we accept all parts of ourselves, as nature does, we find our own harmony.

Onyx is a very symbolic stone. What does it represent for you, and why did you choose it?
Onyx embodies strength, grounding, and quiet confidence. It has depth, mystery, and a silent power. I chose it because it reflects the energy I want to express in my work: elegance with substance, beauty with meaning. But beyond the stone itself, what truly matters to me is the uniqueness of the accessory. Each piece is handcrafted, one by one. This year, we’re using black onyx; next year, we’ll introduce white onyx as well. For me, it’s not about decoration — it’s about creating meaningful, considered pieces. The way each accessory fits the body is intentional; it follows the form. It’s not ornament — it’s part of the design, part of the feeling.

Swimwear is a very particular kind of garment — it reveals as much as it conceals. What is your vision of the body?
I see the body as something real, natural, and always evolving. Swimwear shouldn’t conceal or transform — it should celebrate. I design to highlight what’s already there: strength, grace, movement. Elegance isn’t about perfection — it’s about ease, confidence, and freedom in one’s own skin. My goal is for each piece to embrace the body, flatter it, and create a quiet sense of confidence. I want the woman wearing it to feel sensual and sexy — without being provocative.

Who is the ARTEMIS PSARRI woman?
I don’t picture a single woman. I create with the hope that different women, with different body types and aesthetics, can wear my swimsuits and feel good in them. That’s what matters most to me — that they feel confident, comfortable, and fully themselves.
What advice would you give to women who want to live in their bodies freely — without shame or inhibition?
Start with acceptance. Love and accept yourself, your body, your story. True beauty has no age, no size, no standard. It’s not about fitting someone else’s idea of perfection, but about embracing who you really are — flaws and all. Those so-called imperfections are not things to hide — they’re what make us unique, real, and deeply human. We can’t control what others think or say, but we can choose to stay true to ourselves. And when you live from that authentic, grounded place — without compromise — you radiate. That kind of confidence is magnetic. That’s what I hope to express through my creations: a return to self-love and the freedom to be beautiful just as we are.
Is there a woman — in your family, culture, or personal life — who shaped your view of beauty or femininity?
Without a doubt, my mother had a huge influence on how I see beauty and femininity. She’s a truly beautiful woman, with a natural magnetism that draws people in. What always struck me was not just her appearance, but the way she carried herself — with grace, strength, and a fluid femininity that was entirely her own. Our styles are very different — almost opposites in many ways — and that’s exactly what I find inspiring. There’s no single definition of beauty or femininity. Every woman should feel free to express it in her own way. That individuality — that diversity — is what makes it beautiful. Femininity can’t be copied; it has to be discovered within. I also have to mention my father — he’s the real artist in the family! A big part of my aesthetic sensitivity — my love for harmony, beauty, and form — comes from him. He has a deep admiration for women and for beauty in all its forms. His way of seeing the world with sensitivity, balance, and emotion has left a lasting mark on me.
Let’s talk fashion. What do you wear with your swimsuits?
Denim. It always works.
What do you like to wear in the summer? Do you have a summer uniform?
Simple things. Swimsuits, easy pieces to throw over, clothes I can wear all day long. Lightweight fabrics, well-thought-out cuts — nothing too much. I like pieces that can go from the beach to drinks at a café.

Suggest two ideal summer looks: one for daytime, one for evening.
For daytime: a bikini, an oversized shirt, denim shorts or a pareo like the Aethra.
For evening: the Kyan skirt with its matching top, or the Leto dress with flat sandals.
The Selene one-piece is strong and feminine. The Calypso is bolder, more playful. The Kyan set — skirt and top — is perfect for summer days. You can wear it as a total look or mix and match. The top goes beautifully with jeans, and the skirt works with a simple t-shirt. I like having options that give off different moods without needing much.
Are there any designers or brands you’re loyal to?
I love Christian Louboutin. He has a very strong vision and aesthetic — his shoes are iconic. I feel incredible when I wear them — very feminine — and the cut is truly exceptional. I also admire Parts of Four for its raw, bold design language. I have deep respect for those with a clear, coherent vision — and the courage to stay true to it without compromising on quality. Greece is full of inspiring examples across all areas of fashion — clothing, shoes, bags, accessories — brands that remain authentic, offering quality while celebrating Greek heritage in a modern, elegant way.
And finally… Where are you going this summer?
I’ve planned several short getaways this summer: Paros, the Peloponnese, and Kimolos. As for August… it’s still undecided! One thing is certain: my suitcase will be full of ARTEMIS PSARRI bikinis and swimsuits!
