Located in the center of Athens, near the Parliament, Syntagma Square, opposite the Presidential Palace, the National Garden, created in 1839, opened to the public in 1923, is a must when visiting the capital.
With an area of around 20 hectares, the garden protects more than 500 different species of plants and trees from all over the world. The beauty of this park is breathtaking, a real oasis in the heart of the city center where it is lovely to walk, picnic, especially when the temperatures are excessive in the capital.
You will enjoy the small pond where you will see many aquatic birds but also a large number of water turtles. Strolling through the many alleys, you will bump into certain monuments from Antiquity, a small zoo and a aviary that will appeal to children. They will undoubtedly appreciate the small park dedicated to them, with its swings, slides and other games.
The National Garden is also the unmissable Zappeion, today a place devoted to exhibitions, conferences and various ceremonies, the summer cinema, Aegli, open air, charming, and right next door, the Oasis Zappeion Café.
